Jamie Hoover

Jamie Hoover

For the last 35+ years, Jamie has worked as songwriter, guitarist, vocalist, producer, recording engineer, arranger, bassist, and drummer for the Spongetones, recording and producing all twelve of their records while achieving rave reviews in Rolling Stone, Billboard, Trouser Press and Goldmine to name a few. He wrote, recorded, produced and performed their song “Skinny,” which was played on “ABC World Night News” every night since April of 2006, and is still being used today on their “Skinny Now” gossip section of the show.

In addition to his work with the Spongetones, Jamie has released three records with longtime friend and bassist Steve Stoeckel, completed a full length pop record entitled Paparazzi featuring country star Bill Lloyd and Dennis Diken of the Smithereens, and two CDs with dear friend Brian Shumate under the band name “The Van DeLecki’s.”

He has toured extensively for over 28 years, filling in on keyboard, guitar, mandolin and lap steel for Hootie and The Blowfish, touring with producer/recording artist Don Dixon as guitarist/engineer, and as guitarist/backup vocalist for Graham Parker as a member of “The Small Clubs.” One song, “The Madness Of Love”, made an appearance with Graham Parker on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno!

In addition, Jamie formerly owned and operated a recording studio in Charlotte, NC called “Hooverama@Liquid Studios”, where he worked on indie recording projects, wrote custom music, and did sound design. Over the years, he has recorded with mega-acts such as Joe Walsh, Hootie and The Blowfish, and many others as seen above.

“Jamie’s knowledge of recording is matched only by his generosity with that knowledge. We spent time before the session discussing my goals, what I wanted to get out of the session, and assessing my knowledge level. The result? Everything I could have wanted – and then some. My questions were all thoroughly answered, and I picked up insight on how he makes all those recordings sound so wonderful. Low key, relaxed, just a fantastic experience.

If you have something to say musically, Jamie will show you how to capture it. If you don’t have something to say musically…you wouldn’t be reading this, would you? Just sign up for the course, already. You won’t regret it.”
