Ethan Ricks

Ethan Ricks is a guitarist and bassist from Charlotte, NC. Taken by music and creativity from a young age, he started playing in bands around age 16 and has made music the center of his life ever since. He’s toured and recorded with regional bands such as Crowfield, Matrimony, Shadowgraphs, Jason Scavone, and …Of Sinking Ships, and has shared stages with artists such as All American Rejects, Thirty Seconds To Mars, Train, Colbie Caillat, Lifehouse, Donavon Frankenreiter, Twin Forks, and Matt Pond PA.  His work in the studio has brought him on sessions with producers Rick Beato, Drew Vandenberg and others. Currently, you’ll find him playing guitar and bass in a variety of Charlotte bands and working out of his home studio in east Charlotte.

Ethan has been fortunate to have extended periods of study with guitarist Frankie Lindia (David Lee Roth, Ratt, The Atomic Punks), vocalist Mary Zimmer Zema (VoiceHacks lessons, Funeral Haze) and bass/music theory with John Shaughnessy (Rev O & The Barnburners, Nebulith, The Smokin’ Js). These experiences have taught him the importance of sharing one’s knowledge and experience to help guide and give back to others, as well as the importance of mentorship in music as well as life. He truly believes that everyone who picks up an instrument is part of a global community and that music is both a gift, as well as a never-ending journey that is better embarked on together.
