The normally quiet town of Davidson got a heavy dose of classic rock this past weekend when Chris and Johnny Handy, two of Bold’s brightest young protégés jammed out for three hours at the Davidson Farmers Market. Performing alongside Bold co-owners Dean and George, the guitar quartet played more than 20 songs by artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, Dire Straits, The Eagles, Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam, John Mayer and many more in a nonstop, three hour set that attracted quite the crowd. Many impressed passers-by like Davidson College senior Scott Sellers stopped and listened to the live music:
“The tunes at the Farmer’s Market definitely made the environment, and what made it even better was that George’s students got the opportunity to hone their skills in front of a real audience,” Said Sellers of the show.
Courtney Spear, who runs the Market, was equally impressed:
“I was blown away by the instructors and students from Bold Music – they sounded great! Market-goers gathered around the stage to listen to the guys play, like it was a serious concert. And they played for hours – totally jamming!
As part of our continuing commitment to provide performance opportunities for our students, we are pleased to announce that we will again be performing at the Davidson Farmers Market on October 12th, 2013 from 9am-12pm. Come on out and watch the Handys and some new Bold performers rock it!
