Performance Recap: Smithfield Fun Run

Bold Music students again displayed their talents this past Saturday, May 10th at the Smithfield Elementary Fun Run.

Seasoned performers Chris and Johnny Handy did not disappoint, drawing quite the crowd—especially when afternoon thunderstorms postponed outdoor activities. Adding some new tunes to their repertoire, namely “Cissy Strut” by the Meters, these advanced students showcased their ability to play in a variety of genres.

Not to be outdone however, was Jefferson Espitia, who performed live for the very first time. After serenading the audience with the guitar solo to The Beatles’ “Let it Be,” he proceeded to sit in with the band and rock out for over an hour, dropping solos to songs he had in some cases never even heard! Mr. Espitia’s tasteful licks remind us of the great bluesman B.B. King.

A big thanks to Smithfield Elementary School for having us out! Stay tuned for more recaps as the summer heats up with more performance dates for our students. Rock on!
