Drum Lessons for Everyone
Asheville, NC is known as “one of America’s 12 greatest music cities.” Local venues like The Orange Peel and The Thomas Wolfe Auditorium have hosted some of the world’s most famous bands and musicians. From jazz and R&B to classic rock, the variety of live acts that play on the local music scene call for diverse sets of drum skills.
That’s why Bold Music offers instruction in different kinds of drums. We can teach you to play on these types of sets (and more):
- Acoustic, including jazz and power/rock varieties
- Hand and frame
We’ll start with the skill level you’re at and develop you from there. Our instructors have years of musical experience behind their belts and are passionate about what they do! Many of them studied and trained in world-class music programs. Others have collaborated on projects with known working artists and started their own solo ventures.
We can structure your music lessons around whatever type of aspirations you have. Want to learn how to play in a jazz band? No problem! Need to take lessons after school or work? We can do that too! Running late or have to reschedule due to a last-minute commitment? We’ll reschedule and get back on track as soon as you can.
A Few of Our Talented Percussion Instructors
We Teach All Ages, From Kids to Seniors
Bold Music’s instructors can design lessons for anyone! We structure our video lessons for young kids, teens, busy adults, and those enjoying their golden years. Our instructors teach students in 30, 45, and 60-minute intervals. The shorter sessions are great for those who need to fine-tune their abilities. Students can always add on or move up to some of our longer sessions.
45 minutes is the right amount of time for those who want to squeeze in lessons during lunch, before dinner, or after school. Hour-long sessions are best for students just starting out who need more guidance and instruction.
All of our lessons include live performance opportunities and are tailored specifically for each student. No matter where you are in your journey to becoming a drummer, we’ll meet you on that path.
We even have a free weekly virtual class called Junior Jammers for kids too young for private lessons. It’s never too early to foster a love for music!

Practice Makes Perfect (And Better Drummers!)
If you play a sport, you have to practice to stay in the game. It’s the same with playing an instrument. You have to learn to read music and train your mind, arms, and feet to work together. That’s part of what makes a good drummer and turns a beginner into a seasoned player.
With us, you’ll learn how to set up your drum set and tune it. You’ll also learn techniques for holding your drumsticks and playing different beats. With a little time, practice, and repetition, you’ll keep on sounding better and better!
