Austin Cunningham was born in Pennsylvania, and grew up in both London and Raleigh. He began playing music as a child, first learning piano. After moving to America, he became interested in rock music, and took up bass, guitar and drums. He has played in two groups, gigging around the Triangle area, playing bass, drums and keyboard. Austin is interested in a variety of music, including indie rock, jazz, hip-hop, and classical music. He is currently a student at North Carolina State University, majoring in psychology.
As a teacher, Austin is committed to helping his students find their love for music. He firmly believes that fostering students’ excitement and passion for music is the best way to ensure a lifelong love of the craft. He focuses on practical skills, music theory, and improvisation, giving students the skill needed to compose and play in groups. Austin is excited to be a part of Bold Music, and he looks forward to helping students find their creative voice.
