Spencer Guttenberg

Spencer is a multi-instrumentalist and sound engineer from Long Island, New York. Beginning at age five on percussion, the musical arts have always been a big part of his life. By age twelve he added guitar and bass guitar to his resume. After starting a number of garage bands and performing in school ensembles on both percussion and bass guitar, he began teaching lessons at local music shops. After high-school, Spencer took his studies to Five Towns College, where he studied jazz and audio recording technology. In 2008, he joined “Lies Beneath”, a heavy metal group out of Brooklyn, New York with whom he would go on to record a number of releases and perform on a number of national tours over the next 10 years. He also performed on a number of national tours with violin-based metal band Resolution-15″. Calling on a different playing style in 2017, he joined his fellow Long Island natives in “Bunktown Falls”, a reggae/funk rock band that had become a regular sighting in Montauk, NY. After relocating to Charlotte in pursuit of a Civil Engineering degree, his focus has landed on musical instruction.

Spencer’s style is derived from a varied background in a number of musical styles, and passion for a number of instruments. He believes learning to play an instrument should be one of the most fun and rewarding endeavors that anyone should embark on, and his teaching style is reflective of this philosophy.
