Evan began his musical journey with piano at the age of 4, and by high school had progressed to violin, guitar, bass, drums, mandolin, banjo, and trombone. After a stint in the Jazz Studies program at UNCA, he moved to SoCal where he performed and recorded with top level producers and American Idol contestants, among others. Since returning to central NC, he has performed with many of the regions top acts, and maintains a busy national touring schedule as an in demand multi instrumentalist and guitarist for the Billy Joel tribute band The Stranger.
This extensive performance background makes Evan uniquely suited to teach, as he can pass on not only the fundamentals and theory, but also the real life skills needed to be a working player and collaborative musician. He teaches guitar, bass, drums, piano, violin, mandolin, banjo (3 finger and clawhammer), and ukulele, in addition to band and performance consulting/coaching. Any and all styles are fair game, and he especially enjoys teaching traditional folk music styles, having grown up around the Appalachian old time and Irish trad played by his father.
