Payton Harkins holds a Bachelors and Masters in Music from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem NC. He left home when he was 16 to attend UNCSAs specially tailored high school program for musicians and artists, and stayed after high school to complete his degrees.
Since graduating he has played concerts as a soloist and ensemble member all along the east coast. Along with being a teacher and performer he is also a composer. His compositions have been used in chamber music settings, solo performances, and modern dance performances. He has experience teaching all age groups and numerous styles on the guitar, piano, bass, and ukulele. Payton moved to Charlotte in 2011 to pursue a full time teaching career.
